How can the Wellness Service help you?
The Wellness Service can help support your mental health and wellbeing through managing your emotional, physical and/or your social wellbeing. We can guide you through behaviour change using a number of different approaches including health coaching.
Utilising health coaching techniques will help identify which area of wellbeing has the biggest impact on your mental health.
Wellness staff would then work with you to create a plan to improve that particular element. For example, physical wellbeing could be focusing on increasing exercise levels or improving lifestyle factors such as healthy eating, which would then have a positive impact on your mental wellbeing.

Why am I feeling unwell?
Anxious
- Everyone worries and feels a little anxiety from time to time, especially when experiencing a big life event or a challenging situation. Feeling anxious is a perfectly natural reaction to some situations.
- If under control, feeling anxious can help us be alert and focused at times, like these, when we need to perform at our best. It can become a problem, however, sometimes feelings of anxiety can be constant, overwhelming or out of proportion to the situation and this can affect your daily life.
Stressed
- Stress affects everyone. There are many demands on our time and energy such as work life, children, home life, caring for someone, exams, relationships, money worries.
- Some stress can be good. It can help us feel alert and motivated. But when it feels like demands are getting too much and we start to struggle, stress can have a big impact on our health and how we are feeling.
- Stress can cause many different symptoms. It might affect how you feel physically, mentally and also how you behave.
Depression
- You may be feeling low in yourself or be worried about someone. Everyone feels upset, sad and disheartened from time to time.
- If depression is affecting your day-to-day life it can feel like you are a long way from feeling well again. There are, however, lots of positive things you can do to help yourself feel better and people you can talk to who can help and support you.
Panic attacks
- Panic Attacks is where you regularly have sudden attacks of panic or fear. You might feel numb, hot, dizzy, nauseous, have difficulty breathing and feel your heart start to race. It might also feel like your whole body is being overwhelmed by a crushing sense of fear or dread. Some people even think they are about to pass out or have a heart attack.
For someone with panic disorder, feelings of anxiety, stress and panic occur regularly and at any time, often for no apparent reason.
Hard to sleep
Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for both our physical and mental health.
- Unfortunately, it’s common to have problems sleeping. Worrying about work or family problems, experiencing mental health difficulties or just getting into poor sleeping habits can all have a huge impact on the way we sleep.
